Product Description
In HELPING , Anni Gethin and Beth MacGregor challenge the wisdom of the “cry it out” philosophy and instead encourage parents to incorporate gentle sleep methods that honor the baby’s particular developmental needs. Uniquely among baby sleep books, the authors mine the latest scientific research to make their case. The voices of other parents and child development experts are also examined in order to help readers gain well-rounded perspective, feel supported, trust their instincts, and create a comfortable plan that works for all members of the family.

Most of the book explains why sleep training or “crying it out” is not a good idea. I thought this was fascinating but I still was left not knowing how to help my baby sleep.

I have read many books on infant and child sleep and this is simply the best. My infant had a very difficult time transitioning to sleep, we didn’t sleep train and now we have a happy, attached, healthy toddler who sleeps!

This was really a new way to look at the whole sleep issue with babies. As the mother of many, I’ve had my fair share of sleepless nights and sleep problems. This books was not only physically helpful in helping us deal with the sleep issues that we were having, but it intellectually explained everything in a way that completely made sense using up to date research. It also eased my mind emotionally by reminding me that I’m not alone and that there are lots of families out there just like me, having the same issues and thoughts. Great read for any parent!
