How can I make a baby sleep?
My cousin is a newborn baby, she wouldn’t sleep during the day. How do I make her sleep without holding her in my arm, like just putting her in her bed, but she will cry! Please help!!

Babies usually like swings so if they have one of those then put her in the swing and she’ll probably go to sleep. But the best way is to hold them. That’s how they find comfort and security and if she’s still a newborn they really need that.

I HIGHLY reccomend the book “Healthy Sleep Habits, happy Child” by Dr. Marc Weisbluth. His basic theory is that babies will sleep easily if put down to bed BEFORE they get overtired – which happens to infants within an HOUR! Few people realize this, as the baby SEEMS happy. But then after a few hours the baby is just too tired to sleep well. That sounds crazy, but it’s true. I’m a mother of six including twins and the system of putting the baby down to sleep before he/she was too tired to fall asleep easily has worked like a miracle for all of my kids!

You need to fund a calming routine to help put her to sleep. You need to understand that she has been inside a human for 9 months, and every instinct in her brain tells her if she let’s “mommy” put her down the wolves will eat her. So you can try different things but ultimately no one can make anyone else sleep and what you are describing is perfectly normal for a newborn. If this is too much for you feel free to tell your cousin you can’t baby sit.
I got one of those heart beat bears.Also ,we have a bouncer that vibrates on its own.And a swing is good.Aslo,wrapping the baby tight is good.Makes them feel like they are in thier mom still.Its called swaddling.
you will need to try different thigns to find out what she likes, try a swing or her car seat some babies don’t like laying flat on their backs

Give her a nice wash, swaddle her, feed her, talk softly to her until she is drowsy but not sleep. Then put her in her crib. She’s going to cry it’s ok. She might be one of those babies who has to fuss for a bit before they sleep. And it is ok to let her cry for a little while. Make sure after you feed her that she’s still dry/clean. New babies will dirty thier diapers after feeding sometimes. It’s ok to let a baby fuss itself to sleep as long as you check on them to make sure that they are ok.
